Biography

Born Christopher Chimangeni on May 16th 1985, Commander Chris is a composer, song writer, and a singer. He is the third born of four siblings, three boys and a girl. He spent most of his childhood in Area 23, Lilongwe. He has helped a lot of well-established and upcoming musicians to compose songs both secular and gospel According to him, he does combine the two because a human being is a two being, social and spiritual. Commander Chris recorded his first album SITIKONDA IN 2011 which had hit songs like “Okoma Atani” and “Siza Money” which featured a well-known Dancehall artist Binge. In 2014 he released an album called ZACHIKALE which had songs like “Tikanakhala Ena” which featured Roy View and “Moyo Ndaudziwa” which was recorded live with a band in the studio. In 2016 Commander Chris recorded MY OPINION which focused much on political happenings. He then recorded the album SINDIFUNA in 2020 which had hit songs like “Sindifuna” and “Sitilora” which featured a well-known artist Thomas Chibade who originally did the same song in 1994. Commander Chris has worked with artists like; Blaze, Thomas Chibade, Binge, Petermo, Gift Chiwale, and Shidoman among others. Commander Chris is set to release another album in 2021 and has released a single entitled “Uwasemele” which has hit the airwaves. In 2014 his song “Tikavote” won Luso Television Award which was meant to sensitize the masses to cast their vote in that year’s General Elections.
