Biography

Classick is a member of the new Malawian Hip Hop outfit Home Grown African (HGA), made up of him and Hayze Engola. He was born Yankho Zulu on 13 March, 1993 in Zomba where he was partly raised by his single mother alongside his two sisters.

Growing up as a kid, Classick liked music by renowned U.S. Hip Hop artist Nas and the king of Pop music Michael Jackson. He met Hayze (real name Sindiso Msungama) in primary school and after some years apart, they reunited at PACT Secondary School in Blantyre where they formed the duo HGA.

The two started performing at small stages in Blantyre and surrounding colleges until 2014 when they were given a platform to perform at the Lake of Stars international arts festival. They have also been performing at Mibawa Café. They have released a couple of hit Hip Hop songs including “This Is Africa (T.I.A)” and the most recent “Radio”.
