Biography

Eddie is an up-and-coming Malawian R&B-Soul artist based in Blantyre. He was born Edwin Mhone (29 March, 1993) in Nkhata-Bay and grew up in Mzuzu. Eddie is currently studying Accounting (ICAM) at PACT College – Blantyre campus.

Eddie grew up listening to the likes of Babyface, Usher Raymond, Michael Bolton and El de Barge, among other artists who inspired him into music. He says growing up as a kid, he always loved music, mostly the mood and emotion – how it affects the soul. “I always had it in my heart that I should be able to do that someday”.

It was in 2011 when he realized his dream as he recorded his first song titled “Be There For You”, which was never released. In 2013, after he recorded and released “Napepe” and “Lero si Friday”, Eddie’s career had a turning point as he earned his first radio play on MIJ FM through Slessor Munthali, then MBC Radio 2’s David Kapezi.

Eddie’s compositions are mostly inspired by nature and what he goes through in everyday life. Despite being an R&B singer, the artist is diverse in style and delivery.

He says: “Am not the type of artist that sticks to one genre, so fusion makes me tick. Mostly it’s the environment, the mood and everyday life.”
