Joyful Messengers is a Gospel group based in Mchinji. The group started in 2010 as a choir preaching the word of God through music at Madzimayera CCAP church.
Members of the group comprise of men from different professionals ranging from CEO of renown WASH NGO in Malawi, immigration officer, Motel Manager, Clinician, Business men and Communications Specialist.
According to the lead singer of the group Chrispin Bokho, the inspiration behind formation of the gospel group was the desire to praise God through singing after realising that each member has a free gift and ability to sing and preach the Gospel.
“We are members from different backgrounds and professions and we appreciate that this is possible because of God's love.” Said Chrispin.
“We want to become one of the strongest singing groups not only in Malawi but even abroad and we believe we have what it takes to reach that level with God's grace and guidance.” He added.
This is the group’s first album and it marks the beginning of another hot gospel group assessing from their promotional songs just released.
“Our journey of reaching more people with gospel songs starts right now as this album has nice songs to listen to. The songs are entertaining, giving hope to the hopeless, encouraging those troubled and bring you much closer to God” he said Joyful Messengers is a group that is also encouraging the youth to witness for Christ despite being engaged with work related activities.
“Despite that each member of our group is busy with his work but we still find time and space in our busy schedule to practice and sing in different churches. It is more than singing, it’s a ministry.” explained Chrisipin Bokho, the lead singer of the group.
The group said they are not in a rush to launch the CD or DVD because they are still in the studio to finalize 3 to 4 songs. The album is called Tolani Mwala.
The album has songs like Tolani Mwala (the title track), Nyengo ya Christmass and Uthenga Oyera. The album will have more than ten songs once it is finished, ranging from Malawi traditional, accappela, reggae, blues and south African beats.
“We hope Malawians will receive our songs and the group with grace. “God will guide us on the best time to launch the album as meanwhile we are busy recording at Joseph Tembo’s studio. We are also praying for Gods guidance to give us the right words to communicate to his people” Chrispin concluded.
