SHOBIZ CREDITS: Big Brother Amplified, Acting (Rhythm city), Radio DJ, Club DJ, and Hip-Hop Artist. INTRODUCTION Lomwe is a multi-talented radio presenter, tv presenter and musician. BACKGROUND Big Brother Africa Amplified’s finalist, Lomwe, started his entertainment career in 2005 when Malawi’s biggest radio station, FM 101 Power, held auditions looking for the freshest talent. He was one of the three presenters chosen out of 500 hopefuls and has since become one of the most recognized DJ’s in Malawi, having hosted both the breakfast and drive-time shows. He has been exploring other opportunities in using his voice in the world of voiceovers for numerous companies such as Telekom Networks Malawi, one of the biggest cell phone companies in Africa, as the voice for their brand for over five years. He explains “I find it hard to stay in one lane, I have always loved music from just being a listener when I was growing up to presenting on radio and then getting involved as a musician and expressing my own ideas. He also has extensive experience as a club DJ who’s played all over Malawi and has become a main feature at the popular International Malawi Music Festivals such as Lake of Stars for many years. He says one of his highlights as a DJ is his encounter with Hugh Masekela and being his official DJ during his tour in Malawi. BIG BROTHER AFRICA 6 In 2011 Lomwe propelled himself to new heights when he was a participant in Big Brother Africa Amplified. A show that had 25 other participants from all over Africa, Lomwe was a finalist and managed to make it to the final four. His stint on Big Brother Africa Amplified showcased his diverse talent and resulted in him being endorsed by the Malawian Ministry of Tourism as an ambassador and being backed by the UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) as a goodwill ambassador. Lomwe is now based in South Africa and already making waves after he appeared on one of Africa’s most watched soapies called ‘Rhythm City’. He plans to pursue acting further to broaden his media career. Lomwe also recently scored a deal with an app company based in the USA called instavoice which allows fans a closer connection with their favourite celebs through voice mail and , Lomwe is one of only two people from Malawi enlisted on the app DISCOGRAPHY As part of his brand extension Lomwe decided to also venture into music recording with the latest Ep release titled ‘Double Wowza', which is a collaboration with his friend and Big Brother Africa’s house mate from Botswana, Zeus. Lomwe reflects how the collaboration came about “in the Big Brother house there’s a lot of time spent interacting with other country representatives and me and Zeus found that we have a few things in common mainly music, we spoke of collaborating on a mixtape and the title track came from the slang I came up with called ‘WOWZA’ which means wow but just extra". The title track was received with great reviews by fans all over Africa and has been downloaded countless times. The music video was shot in Botswana and has been on one of Africa’s most popular music video channels ‘Channel O’ and more, the video can also be viewed on Youtube. His first release was a successful yet controversial mixtape called “Rumors of War”, which is a collection of hard-hitting hip-hop tracks that quickly gained him recognition on the Malawian urban music scene. Very recently Lomwe realeased a song in collaboration with pupular YFM dj Khathu from South Africa and Nigerian artist Skek, the song titled 'Bad habit' has gotten a lot of airplay on YFM and many international radio stations and the music video has been getting rotation on Channel O till today.
