Biography

James Kuchilala aka MaLaLa was born on 16 July 1985 in Mangochi. He started playing the guitar in 2001 before enrolling at the Chancellor College of Malawi where he studied music as a minor course. While at Chancellor College, James worked with the Chancellor College Catholic choir as a guitarist in Mundilengere Mtima and Munthawi Yake albums before graduating in 2009 with a Bachelors Degree in Education. He has also worked with Freedom Band of Zomba and Funghai Mutsinze. Currently teaching at a secondary school in Mangochi he is working on his first solo album to be released soon.
