Rina is a Hip Hop artist who began her musical journey with poetry in 2007, where she also spent time discovering her talents and tried out various genres that included Dancehall, RnB and Pop. With the dream of being a pioneer in the local Urban Music Industry Rina fought for a place in the male dominated world of music and found herself being the most sought after urban musician in 2010.
She gained major press from the written publications and worked alongside major key players in the Malawi Urban Music industry and was even chosen to a headline the UMP Festival in her first year of activity. Countless times she has been the only female performer at major events ; featured international mix tape features, opened up for music festivals lake of stars and city of stars, and following up with a nomination in the Best Female category for the countries first MMA’s Malawi Music Awards.
A strong willed person that pleasures in breaking boundaries and aims for women to a respected and dominating act in the music industry. Wanting to be a voice for young girls she gained the opportunity to be an artist featuring on the Go Green campaign song spearheaded by the British Council. In 2013 she was also blessed with an invitation to Shoko Festival an arts festival held annually in Zimbabwe catered to by the Zimbabwe German Society, as part of the moving Africa campaign which got the chance to meet with Jamaican Artist Tony Rebel and Kuli Chana South Africa’s loved Hip Hop Artist.
From international features, to affiliations with notable brands Rina has proved her versatility by not only being a recording and performing artist but as well a poet, event host and ambassador for agenda's that involve improving the lives of the youth in Malawi. She's worked with organisations such as Plan international, Girl effect, FPAM and more.
Year after year she has found a way to realize her musical aspirations and use her music to make a difference in the lives of people who listen to her.
