Rio Riaaz was born in Blantyre Machinjiri and took to music from a young age.
One of the people that influenced and mentored Rio in music was the legendary Joseph Tembo who also taught him how to play drums at a young age.
He went on to release his first single titled Nebuccannezer as a young boy in 2003 which was also produced by Joseph Tembo and enjoyed radio play.
Rio's life took another exciting turn when he migrated to South Africa, being the smart hustler that he is, he didn’t sit and wait for opportunity to come to him, he instead started taking advantage of how much the camera loved him and joined a modelling and acting agency.
He went on to win modelling competitions such as Faces for Africa Modelling Competition, this led to the start of a healthy modelling career which allowed him to work with great celebrities and advertise for great brands on Television such as Fifa, J&B whisky, Vodacom, Strawberry Lips, Muvhango, SA tourism, PEP stores, Castle Lager and Hyundai to name a few which allowed him to work alongside soccer stars and celebrities such as DJ SBU and DJ Zinhle.
Rio also extended his acting to feature films, playing prominent roles in The Betrayal, Secrets of the wheel and the yet to be released Making Mr Write Right.
Throughout the acting side of his career Rio did not put aside his true passion of Music, and went on to release his solo studio album in 2012 "Ndipatse Danga", which also enjoyed both radio and video play. He also performed alongside Dan Lu on the Dan Lu's tour in 2014.
Rio is currently adding the finishing touches to his 2nd studio album to be released towards the end of 2017 and has released the first single "Ku Mulanje" and is currently shooting a video for which he promises to be a world class video.
Rio is not only an entertainer, but a businessman as well. He is releasing this next project under his signed record label Rio's Entertainment
