Born in Blantyre, Sam Simakweli Chavula started music at the age of five. His first instrument to learn on his own man-made tin guitar. At the age of 10 he joined a church choir and as a teenager he joined a gospel band{preachers band}as a vocalist and keyboard player. In his early 20's he joined Sir Lucius Banda's Zembani Band as band leader.
After gaining experience he decided to release his first album called Kasitepe which featured Ungodikira, which is among Matalala Records' first singles produced by Taps Bandawe. Two after he did another album called Kaunjika.
He is currently doing a new album called Chako which features songs like Sichibale, Chako, Dziko and Silira.
