Smith Nyimbo Mw, real name Gabriel Masulani Danny, is a dynamic Malawian AfroPop artist hailing from the vibrant Mtowe Village, T/A Mavwere in Mchinji District, and currently based in Lilongwe. Born into a musical family of five, Smith Nyimbo stands out as the second-born son of Mr. and Mrs. Danny, bringing a unique blend of talent and passion to the forefront of the Malawian music scene. Smith Nyimbo's musical journey began in 2006, but it wasn't until 2010 that he stepped into the studio, marking the start of his professional career. For nearly seven years, he honed his skills as a vocal artist before transitioning into music production, drawing inspiration from the legendary Sonyezo Kandoje, a.k.a. DJ Sonye. His evolution from vocalist to producer has infused his music with a rich, multifaceted sound that resonates with fans across the country. 2023 was a breakthrough year for Smith Nyimbo. He clinched the prestigious Phalombe Sweetness Music Competition, earning a substantial prize of MMK 200,000.
