Tapiwa Phiri

Biography

apiwa Phiri is a Lilongwe based gospel musician originally from Bolero, Mjuma Village in Rumphi district. He stays in Area 25 Nsungwi but currently pursuing Master of Arts Journalism and Mass Communication in India. Aged 37 years, he is married to Angelina Winesi they have 4 children together. Tapiwa started singing in a choir in the village around 1998, in 2004 he moved to Blantyre where together with his friends formed a gospel music group in 2007 called Milimo Yiweme Brothers which released their one and only album titled Timtamande. Thereafter Tapiwa started doing his music a solo artist releasing albums like Ntumeni in 2010, Ndinena Zikomo in 2012 and his current album titled Atate Athu released in 2022. The current album has 11 tracks Atate Athu, Nkhumfunya chala, Amayi anga ndi Maria, Tsiku Lonse Mtima Wonse , Ndine Nkhosa Yanu, Mwe Tawanthu tose, Dizko Lathu, Ife Anthu a padziko,Ulendo (two versions) and Tikamuone. The artist has five music videos namely Atate Athu, Nkhumfumya Chala, Amai Anga ndi Maria, Tikamuone and Tsiku Lonse Mtima Wonse which are already enjoying play on various local TV stations, the videos are also available on YouTube channel @tapiwaphiri8211. The musician is also a choir member for St Mary's Choir of St Anthony of Padua Catholic Parish Area 25 and Maula Denary Catholic Choir.
