Biography

Christopher Kaunde AKA Zonje born April 24th is an up and coming young rapper with a special style of lyricism and delivery where he delicately blends English and the vernacular, in a way that always seems to produce a unique sound every time you listen to him rap. Zonje started writing songs and free-styling in his early days of Secondary school, a habit that later manifested into a passion when he was at Chancellor College, where he met with G-Zo and BON to form the hip-hop group Overdoz, also known as OV.

The group earned the reputation of the best Music Act at the campus in the years 2012-2014, most notably for the viral-status campus anthem “Chanco-Poly”, which is a remix cover to Wiz Khalifa’s Black and Yellow. He was part of the line-up in the “Official Chanco Cypher” and it is the view of many a listener that his verse was the stand-out cream of the crop. As a solo artist, Zonje received critical acclaim and recognition from most circles in the Mdubs scene in 2014 when he released his solo-debut hit single “Magalimoto”, where he displays immense creativity and originality in lyricism that’s beyond most rappers in the country.

In the song he provocatively describes his admiration for various types of cars that he’s come across, in a manner that insinuates the possibility that the “Cars” he’s rapping about; not actually being the “Cars” that we know. Now having graduated and with a stable job, this exciting artist plans to have a big year, with his first single of the year scheduled for a late March release, track titled “Nzabhobho” featuring BFB.
